New Year's Parish Update

Fr. Michael MachacekNativity of Our LordJanuary 6, 2021
unlockPublic

Dear Parishioners,

With the start of a new year I want to ensure you that during this lockdown, we will continue to do our best to live out the phrase, “Our church may be closed but our parish is still open”.  I now would like to share with you some items of update.

Envelope Boxes:

With the reality of the pandemic, we are no longer able to conveniently distribute the envelopes as we have been able to in the past. The Archdiocese has told us that mailing the boxes would cost over $10 per box and it would be very challenging to arrange for volunteers to hand deliver them, so I appeal to your kindness and cooperation to help us out. If you have not already done so, please be good enough to take 15 min. of your time to come pick up your envelope box. I thank you for doing so. Please contact the Parish Office to arrange a time or see my “Update 2021 Envelopes” copied below at the end of this page for the dates and times a volunteer will be present in the Parish Hall to help you.

Communion Services:

Cardinal Collins has encouraged Parishes to hold weekend Communion Services like the ones held on Christmas Eve and Day.  Nativity will begin to do so on the weekend of January 16/17. Eventbrite registration through our parish website will begin Monday at 10 am and close Friday at 12 noon each week. As there can only be 9 people present + the Presider for the 8-9 minute service, we ask that you do not register early in the week.

Church Open for Prayer:

Starting next week, our church will be open for private prayer with a maximum of 10 people, physical distancing and sanitizing on Tuesdays 10:30am-12:30pm.

Mass Livestream:

Daily Mass live stream continues Monday - Friday at 9:30am and Sundays at 10am on Youtube – the daily link can be found on our website.

Please continue to follow us on our parish website and Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.  On our website you will also find the links for registration for 1st Communion/Reconciliation and Confirmation, as well as my daily reflections and homilies and other parish news.

I am truly grateful and blessed to serve as your Pastor.  Together with all the staff of Nativity of Our Lord, I ask for God’s blessings upon you throughout 2021.

Peace and Prayers,

Fr. Michael Machacek.

2021 Offertory Programs for the Parish

December 31, 2020.

My dear parishioners:

During the two shutdowns of the church this year, our parish staff has tried its best to continue to serve you. For our church may be closed, but our parish is still open. Truly, the mission of our parish cannot change during the pandemic, but one thing for sure - our methods for funding the parish do need to change. Parishioners are our only source of revenue. Pre-pandemic, over 95% of our collection would be received by passing the basket during the offertory collection in the middle of Sunday mass. Obviously, this didn’t work very well when the church was locked down from this past March to mid June or as is right now, or when we were only able to operate with reduced numbers from mid-June to November 23rd.

To ensure a consistent revenue stream so that we are able to continue to serve you, as well as maintain our church building, I am asking that you kindly consider switching to the online “Donate Now” system in which you use your credit card; or else to the Pre-Authorized Giving Program of in which a monthly amount determined by you is withdrawn on the 20th of each month and deposited into the parish bank account. Full details for both the “Donate Now” and the “PAG” are available on our website by going to the “Giving Online Donate” button on our website

Donate - Nativity of Our Lord (myparish.org)

Please note that I think so highly of the “PAG” that I have switched my donations to the parish by this method.

I fully understand that some parishioners may not be comfortable with either the Donate Now or the PAG methods, and that you will wish to continue with the use of the Envelope Boxes.  At this time, the 2021 Envelope Boxes are available for pick up. Please contact the parish office Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm to arrange a time, or you may pick up your envelope during the times noted below:

-  Mon. Jan 18th       10:30am – 2:30pm

- Tues. Jan 19th        10:30 am - 2:30 pm

-  Wed. Jan. 20th       10:30am – 2:30pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm

- Thurs. Jan. 21st      10:30 am - 2:30 pm

On these dates, please enter by using the two glass doors entrance on the west side of the church, underneath the canopyA volunteer will be present to help you.

I am so grateful to all of you for your continued support of our parish.  May God bless all of you the New Year and throughout 2021.

Peace and prayers, Fr. Michael Machacek
