Part of me cringes at today's gospel - Jesus ignoring His Mother and his brothers, who would have actually been familial relations such as cousins.  But ignoring Mom!  Big mistake. The one who brought you into the world?  Jesus, you're going to hear about this afterwards!!   Yes, no one loves you like your Mama - but there is also no wrath like Mama's wrath.

But of course, Jesus is not snubbing Mama.  No doubt He took the time afterwards to spend time with her - and rightly so.  But Jesus' ministry was so much more than to His immediate family.  It was to all of us.  And all of us who would take His message seriously and live out the will of His Father would be His mothers and sisters and brothers.  To which I say, Amen!  And I would like to say, "Yes, Jesus would call me His brother".

What about you?  Are you also one who does the will of His and our Father is Heaven?  Would he call you His sister or brother?
